I’ve got a new poem called ‘Koondart wer Koondarm – Cloud and Dream’ in the book ‘Looking Across The Lake: 25 Years of Art’, published by the City of Joondalup.

The book celebrates the 25-year anniversary of the City of Joondalup Art Collection, showcasing works by Western Australian artists that have been acquired by the City. I was commissioned to write a poem for the front of the book inspired by Christopher Pease’s painting Doondalup (2021), which won the 2021 City of Joondalup Visual Art Commission. The painting is featured in the book alongside my poem (see below).

I had a great yarn with Chris too and our discussion is amongst the artist interviews in the book. Emma Buswell’s viral cooked chicken beaded artwork in there, along with artworks by Meeyakba Shane Pickett, Lea Taylor, Perdita Phillips, Erin Coates and more.

I’m not sure if the book is available to buy yet, but I imagine it’ll be for sale at some point at the new Joondalup Contemporary Art Gallery space.
